BSI STATUS CONFIRMED

British-Standard

We are pleased to report following an intense 2 day audit that the company has had its status with regard to the BSI 9001:2008 Standard confirmed. The audit inspection was extremely thorough and included visits to Control, a number of sites, interviews with officers and customers and a detailed examination of the company’s systems and procedures. The Assessor wrote in his report – “The areas assessed during the course of the visit were found to be effective. The processes for Key Holding and Response Services to BS 7984 were audited as part of the quality management system processes operated by the company and were found to be satisfactory.”

We are delighted at the outcome of this process and the continued confirmation that we provide quality service delivery at and above the standards demanded by BSI. Francis and Mandy would like to thank everyone involved within the company for their support not just in terms of the BSI audit but for all your commitment throughout the year.

In addition to maintaining the company’s position to the BSI standards for Security Guarding and Key Holding, Cole Security has been anxious to advance its position with regard to the ISO 14001 standard for Environmental Awareness. During the audit Francis met with another inspector from BSI and they have now mapped out a series of dates into next year for the company’s application to be considered. It is hoped that we will have achieved this important standard by the end of 2011.

Harper Green Presentation EveningHarperGreenlogo

Untitled-4Samantha and Ruth represented the company at the recent Harper Green School Presentation Evening in the Albert Halls. For some time now Cole Security has sponsored prizes with the school which has been a long-standing customer. In 2010 we sponsored the History and Geography prizes along with the Information Technology and Business & Communication Systems awards. The evening involved live musical pieces by pupils including “X Factor” material. This was followed by the presentation of prizes and certificates to past and present pupils along with speeches. Mr. Stewart, The Headteacher gave his report on the past year and he was followed by the chief guest, Yasmin Qureshi, the Member of Parliament for Bolton South East .

After the presentations were completed Samantha and Ruth were able to mix with the other guests and have their picture taken with the MP who has been involved in community work for the past 20 years. They both thoroughly enjoyed the evening and felt it was a great opportunity to see how well the school has done over the past year, and to feel that we are a part of their success.

NEW Vehicle Added to Mobile Fleet

KiaFrancis has now been able to make his first move in the process of upgrading the company’s fleet of vehicles by acquiring a brand new Kia Rio. This is a diesel powered car which is having the final touches put to its signage before its introduction. The current vehicles have served us well and covered many, many thousands of miles. This heavy work has resulted in a fair amount of repair work in recent months and identified the need to introduce newer vehicles as soon as practicable. Francis has hopes of being able to gradually bring other vehicles into use over the next twelve months to ensure our mobile operations continue to support the many contracts reliant on their presence.

SIASIA UPDATETwitter

Recent announcements of major spending cuts by the Government included reference to the SIA which is, of course, part of the Home Office. A recent update published on the SIA website and issued to the press gave more detail about future developments.
“The SIA has been asked by ministers to work with the private security industry and key stakeholders to lead the phased transition to the new regulatory regime announced by Government.

An initial meeting took place recently calling together a number of industry representatives and stakeholders. During this session, the initial framework for phased transition.

A framework for the future and a delivery plan will be developed for presentation to ministers early next year. A further stakeholder meeting will be held in the New Year.

SIA Chief Executive Bill Butler commented that:

"Currently, the existing regulatory regime - licensing and the Approved Contractor Scheme, remain in place and existing laws will continue to be enforced. All individuals undertaking licensable activity must ensure they have the required SIA licence.

Work and planning will be underway immediately, but it is not expected that any significant changes will take place before the Olympics in 2012. The phased transition to the new regime will then take place. Subject to agreement, the transition could then be completed by 2014. Any changes will be implemented so as not to disrupt the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014.

There is now much to be done, and the next step will be for the SIA to establish initial arrangements to work with the industry and stakeholders, including the devolved governments in Scotland and Northern Ireland."

The other earth shattering news to come from the SIA this week is that they have joined TWITTER.
The SIA can be found on Twitter by searching for SIAuk.

Robert Buxton, SIA Assistant Director of Marcoms, said :"We wanted a way of communicating directly with people who would not normally receive our emails or news releases. By following us on Twitter and receiving our tweets, anyone can keep up to date with the latest SIA news or important updates on the future of regulation."

"We will post items on Twitter whenever we make announcements on current events or issue national news releases, or when we just want to share something of interest with SIA licence holders and our stakeholders. Why not follow us on Twitter at SIAuk and be among the first to be informed.”

Your needs! We deliver! A perfect partnership!Special-Offer

The role of a security officer can be quite diverse and occasionally we have been asked to undertake additional duties over and above the core activity of guarding. Where requested we are happy to go that little bit further and can provide the people you may need at difficult times to maintain your business. We have had many years experience in providing emergency caretaking services to a wide range of customers. Our ability to provide cover at awkward times when clients needed sickness cover or had problems with overnight and weekends demands has been much appreciated.

This has prompted us to offer a “FIT THE CLIENT CARETAKING SERVICE”.

Any new business for this service will benefit from a 20% reduction in costs for the first three months. Apart from enabling you to cover particular emergency needs you would also gain a professional security officer who can help reduce instances of vandalism, theft and criminal damage which you can ill afford to have to pay for in these challenging times. Recent cases of arson in Greater Manchester have raised these concerns to an even higher level.
